Brand History & Trademark Analysis
Berghaus was founded in 1966 by climbers Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison, who ran LD Mountain Centre in Newcastle. The company launched its first rucksacks in 1970, developed the world's first internal-frame rucksack (the Cyclops) in 1972, and pioneered the commercial use of Gore-Tex fabric in outdoor clothing in 1977. Pentland Group acquired Berghaus in 1993.
