FAIRY
Fairy washing-up liquid has been a registered UK trademark since the 1950s when Procter & Gamble launched it in Britain. The brand achieved iconic status through decades of television advertising and became so dominant that 'Fairy Liquid' entered everyday British vocabulary. Independent consumer tests repeatedly ranking it as the longest-lasting washing-up liquid reinforced its market position.

Fairy originated as a soap bar in the United Kingdom in 1898, manufactured by Thomas Hedley Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne, which Procter & Gamble acquired in 1927. Fairy Liquid launched in 1950 in a distinctive white plastic bottle with green graphics, manufactured at the West Thurrock factory. In 2015, EU regulators required Fairy Liquid to carry an "eye irritant" warning label under updated classification legislation.
