Historical Background
Jim Marshall opened his first music shop in Hanwell, London in 1960. The first Marshall amplifier was developed in 1962 with engineer Ken Bran and teenage guitarist Ken Schofield, based partly on a modified Fender Bassman design. The distinctive cream-coloured control panel was introduced in 1965. Jim Marshall was awarded an OBE in 2003 for services to the music industry.
