Nike, Inc. was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight and became Nike in 1971, headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon. It is the world's largest athletic footwear and apparel company.

The Swoosh device, Nike word mark, Air Jordan, and Just Do It slogan are among the most studied trade marks in brand protection literature. In the United Kingdom, Nike operates retail and e-commerce with heavy filing activity for athlete collaborations and limited colourways.
