Historical Background
Saatchi & Saatchi was founded in London in 1970 by brothers Charles and Maurice Saatchi. The agency produced the Conservative Party's 1979 election campaign poster "Labour Isn't Working," widely credited as a turning point in British political advertising. At its peak in the late 1980s, the firm was the world's largest advertising agency by billings. The brothers' departure in 1995 following boardroom conflict, and subsequent founding of M&C Saatchi, represents one of the most consequential splits in British brand history.
