Historical Background
Specsavers was founded in 1984 by Doug and Mary Perkins in Guernsey. The company introduced a joint venture partnership model in which optometrists co-own individual practices, removing the need for employed opticians and enabling lower prices. Specsavers became the UK's largest optical retail chain. The brand's long-running "Should've Gone to Specsavers" advertising campaign, launched in 2002, became one of the most recognised and imitated UK commercial slogans.
